Hari Raya Aidilfitri - !st Oktober 2008

Celebration for this Hari Raya - 1st Oktober 2008

Preparation

This year Hari Raya collided with my involvement with F1 Night Races. Therefore the first victims was the ketupat. I could only make 30 pieces of ketupat, usually more. But this was salvaged by Yas (Isteri Abang Nal) who volunteered making up the numbers. Since Zaiton did well with the cooking together with Chef Nabihar, the ketupats, rendang plus other dishes were well prepared. Well done mummy & grany.......

I guess all this for the love for all the cucus, Adam, Exel Ali, Ashydiq, Aidid, Hazirah & Danial.

Kueh Suji

My lovely wife Zaiton, found an immediate passion to fill up her time while waiting for me every F1 nights (usually i got home around 1.00AM) She successfully made her own Suji and I am impressed. Personally I never like Suji. But this year it became the pride of the family. May be next year we could take orders as the words get around. Boys - Ashydiq & Aidid snapped up every Suji available.

Family Re Union / Tracking relationship via Family Tree

This is the first year we celebrated Hari Raya since my dad, Haji Baba passed away & I felt tinged of sadness evenmore. But what struck me was that I realised as the more of the elderly family members left us, we are only left with memories. Problem is my children or new member to the family (thru marriage), will not be able to know who is who in the family tree.

There is now the urgency to start my " Family Tree" project. This is to put on record every member for this family and confirm their data officially, so if 50 or 60 years down the road my grandchildren will know who their grandfather was, and plus other grandies/grannies. Always pandang belakang...

Hari Raya House to House Visit

Another issue that cropped up every Hari Raya is that I always can remember the house but not the address. And the phone number is usually not updated. This usually hamper the original plan & lead us to scrambling of options !! Therefore to assist my fellow family members overcome this or at least soften the difficulties, I will update try to update all the latest address or contact number from nenek, datuk, pak cik, mak cik to anak-anak saudara.... Hopefully next year will be a breeze.....

Transportation

This year I' ve got a 7 Seater Hyundai Trajet to move around the 1st week. Almost an incident- free until Aimei, Alin's maid opened the door and touched a nearby park car with the owner making so much fuss on nothing. This happened at Ang Mo Kio near Cik Jan new house (She just move). He could even took a photo & wanting to claim insurance, such a classic case of an idiot !! Well that did not dampened the Hari Raya spirit at all ....

F1 FORMULA ONE SGP FLAG MARSHAL

26 September 2008 - 28 Sept 2008 F1 Singapore Grand Prix

I was part of history as the first F1 Night Race in Singapore speed thru the Marina Circuit. After months of training (e-modules & theory at SMU and practical at Marina Circuit and Turf City as I was an officially a Flag Marshal posted at Turn 13.6.

Nothing equal the experience as Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa, Alonso or Raikonen blast past my Flag Post touching barely my yellow flag as the Safety Car was deployed. With fellow Flaggies (Flag Marshals), communicating to the Drivers with our flags & DigiFlag is as real as it gets, living the dream for F1 Superfans like us.

As Tony Martin said, you could spent $10,000 on VIP ticket to view F1 races but nothing beats the experience as Renault, Mclarens or Ferrari zoom past you, shattering with lightning speed, leaving your body vibrated & still wondering it's gonna be a crash at the next Turn 14 after your Sector.
My Turn 13.6 Sector Marshal in Charge - Ashley Penhall said, " I wasted my money in Adelaide or Melbourne just by lookin the F1 or V8 blast past. It's the action guys. And the action is down on the track & get my hands dirty pushing Ferrari & Renault when it stalled , engine blew or picking up pieces of debris from BMW Sauber & Mclaren hot engines....
Don't believe what these guys are saying, check it out & look for yourself.. .....
